Expo 2030: Saudi Arabia is Ready to Welcome the Crowd
$7.8 billion has been allocated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Expo 2030.
A very first glimpse of all the features including Riyadh cityscape full of soul and spirit and a transformational journey of Saudi Arabia has been documented and shared through a 39 seconds long promotional video on social media, captioned with ‘Riyadh, ready to welcome the world to Expo 2030’.
As mentioned in the short clip, Expo 2030 would be the most connected “Expo ever” that visitors are going to witness. Visitors arriving from King Salman Airport can arrive at the destination within a 5-minute train journey. In addition, they can take a short metro ride to the destination in Riyadh. The airport is under development and is going to open shortly in 2025.
The clip also says, “Riyadh is ready today.”
Riyadh Airlines, which is one of the partnered companies for Expo 2030, will connect visitors from different corners of the world and going to start its operation by 2025.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on June 19, unveiled the closure of the plan for Expo 2030 in the presence of members from 179 countries of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE). The announcement took place during an event hosted by the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, in Paris, France.
“The Riyadh Expo 2030 design is inspired by the kingdom’s ambition to bring the world’s nations, big or small, together with equal visibility and accessibility, and share its own journey of transformation,” said the Royal Commission for Riyadh City during the event.
The Riyadh Expo 2023
The Kingdom has a plan to host Expo 2030, which will take place for 6 months starting from October 1, 2030, until March 31, 2031, with the innovative theme “The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow.”
The final decision on hosting the exhibition is going to be shared in November. In accordance with reports, South Korea, Busan, Odessa from Ukraine, and Rome are competing to host the event.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has allocated $7.8 billion for the grand event Expo 2030. The huge investment amount is going to empower and motivate other large investments in Riyadh, as explained in a statement on the official Riyadh Expo 2030 website by Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, Minister of Investment, Saudi Arabia.
The planned and designed site will cover seven square kilometers and will showcase over 226 pavilions represented by different countries across the globe. The event is going to be powered by solar power, which is a clean source of energy.
Alongside the planners are working on structured biodiversity, cutting down the food waste, and an active plan for green waste management and recycling.

World Expo 2021, Dubai
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is not the first Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) country to host the grand exhibition of the World Expo.
Looking back to 2021, Dubai was the first city from the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia region. Which has hosted the World Expo, which was the first Expo to get hosted in the Gulf region in the past 170 years.
The event got delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation worldwide and took place from October 1, 2021, to March 31, 2022, and witnessed a visit of over 24 million visitors during 6 months duration.
