Moroccan super app ORA Technologies receives $1.5 million in seed investment for e-wallet launch.

A Moroccan-based startup, ORA Technologies successfully secured $1.5 million in the seed led by local entrepreneurs. The super app of Morocco, the ORA Maroc super app, was launched in the year 2023 by Omar Alami. This platform offers multiple features for Moroccan citizens including P2P transactions, an e-commerce platform, on-demand services, chat functionality, and social networking, and an e-wallet will soon be launched on the same platform. The recent funding will accelerate ORA’s growth plans and its module to launch an e-wallet which enables the user to transfer money instantly, as a result of the collaboration with M2T, a subsidiary of Banque Centrale Populaire.

With the base laid out so strong by securing pre-seed funding from the locals, the super app of Morocco raised $1.5 million from the regional entrepreneurs, showcasing their strong belief in the company’s growth and impact potential.

Crossing over 300,000 downloads and more to count, the app’s main objective is to become an integral part of daily life for Moroccans, providing the citizens with a wide array of services and facilities under one single wing. Starting from an e-commerce gateway where users can buy and sell goods, the chatting function helps people to get in touch, connect with friends and family socially, order food through a wide course of restaurants, and much more under one single app called ORA Maroc Super App. Furthermore, the app is gaining popularity because of its seamless user experience and intuitive interface.

Meanwhile, even the flourishing technology of Morocco is also anticipating from this Super app its imminent social fintech feature allowing users to chat and transfer money easily and instantaneously, posing a trailblazer in the financial landscape of Morocco, thanks to a strategic partnership with M2T, a subsidiary of Banque Centrale Populaire.

ORA’s partnership with M2T does not just guarantee the safety, security, and reliability of financial transactions but also paves the way for digital payments using a wallet integrated into the app to further streamline transactions and reduce reliance on cash.

Founder and CEO of ORA Technologies, Omar Alami expressed his views stating, “This Seed round demonstrates the precious and important support we got from local successful entrepreneurs to scale this ambitious project of digital and financial inclusion. Our mission is clear: to provide e-commerce and digital payments to all Moroccans, bridging the gap between traditional and modern modes of commerce, and ensuring accessibility and inclusivity in the digital economy. Large vendors, small businesses, and service providers also stand to benefit from the app’s marketplace feature, which enables them to reach a wider audience and grow their customer base.”

Furthermore, he added that because of the capable team of ORA Technologies which includes both tech and digital professionals along with a talented group of 25 software engineers, they were able to achieve this significant milestone and soon became an Open Innovation champion whose expertise and dedication brought in partnerships with large groups such as M2T, Pharma 5, Retail Holding, Banque Centrale Populaire, and others.
