In the rapidly growing scene of skateboarding in Egypt, there is one particular name commonly rising the fame, Mallawany. Being one of the youngest talents in this country, he has successfully shaped a path to follow his passion and commitment to showcase his craft to the world. Mallawany’s rush into the world of skateboarding started as an individual escape, which meant conquering the challenges in life finding inspiration from every fall, and winning tricks.

Mallawany has addressed, “Skateboarding helped me get through a lot of hardships in my life. Just knowing the fact that you can fall, take a slam, get up, and go on trying your trick and landing it is just really inspirational. It changes the perspective of everything around you in a way you never thought possible. Skateboarding is also not just a hobby; you’re committed for life once you start.”

Born and brought up in Alexandria, often praised as the root of skateboarding in Egypt, Mallawany gives the whole credit to his surroundings to fulfil his journey in the world of skateboarding. At the same time, Mallawany acknowledges the recent switch in the skateboarding culture, which has taken this from a clear pursuit of passion and fun to a matter-of-fact business venture. This culture became a tool that has been harnessed by the brands now and has the chance to attract many younger audiences globally.

“The culture of skateboarding is now an everyday lifestyle, It obviously has its pros and cons, but we skaters are trying as hard as we can to change that into a safe environment, one in which we all can just skate and have fun because that’s what skateboarding is all about.” he further added.

According to Mallawany, Skateboarding is not only a sport, but more than that. He describes skateboarding as a form to express oneself. While walking down to the streets of Alexandria or Cairo in the current days, people can witness the skaters are standing out, and sporting their boards proudly. Equally, people moving there can feel a fundamental sense of distaste for conformity.

Mallawany echoes this while saying, “Skateboarding is a form of art. Some might argue, perceiving it as a sport or some kid’s game. But that made us skaters care less about what others view us as, knowing that as long as we aren’t hurting anyone or ourselves, we are free to do whatever we crave.”

Whenever it comes to fulfilling his future in the field of skateboarding, Mallawany would like to stay in touch with his ground, pointing up the fact that he started his journey in the world of skateboarding without thinking about any grand expectations for future, but somewhere was having a huge dream to run after. He also said that he thinks what actually he has to do is just keep on grinding the good works. He declared that he is not going to stop himself until he gets sponsored. Because that is what he is aiming for. He believes in himself and says he strongly believes that he will never stop trying again and again and finally get what he is looking for throughout.
