UAE is prepping up to celebrate National Day on December 2. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced that private sector employees in the UAE will get two official holidays on the occasion of UAE National Day.

As per the announcement made by the organisers, the official celebration of National Day in the United Arab Emirates is going to take place at Expo City, Dubai. UAE National Day is also known as the UAE Union Day, which has been celebrated since 1971 to mark the unification of the Emirates.

Expo City Dubai, which is also known for hosting the conference COP28 on the global issue of climate change, will take place between November 30 and December 12. The climate change conference is to narrate the sustainability tale of the United Arab Emirates during the ongoing ceremony. The United Arab Emirates has marked 2023 as the ultimate Year of Sustainability, and the occasion is scheduled for December 2.

All the expatriates and Emiratis will get a chance to become a part of the national public ceremony scheduled from December 5 to December 12.

“The official ceremony will feature innovative technologies and breathtaking projections, where it will portray the UAE’s rich heritage and the connecting threads of unity and sustainability across history, symbolised through various elements of Sadu weaving,” the organisers made a statement on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.

The residents in UAE should get a three-day long weekend due to the celebration of UAE’s National Day. ‘Sadu’, which is a traditionally popular technique of waving practised for adorning accessories, and soft furnishings by Bedouin women. This is one of the famous traditional art from of UAE that was mentioned on the list of  ‘intangible cultural heritage list’ by UNESCO, in 2011.

The organisers of this national ceremony have also said, “Starting at the roots of Emirati culture and heritage, the show will illustrate the legacy of the ancestors and the relationship between tradition and technology, reflecting the shared commitment to nurturing and preserving our interconnected world.”

The show will equally feature many storytellings and different types of performances which will shed some light on the vision of the United Arab Emirates to share a sustaining future with all over the world. UAE will surely be going to take an important step in “climate adaptation, overcoming challenges through innovation, and collective action”.

All the local television channels are set to telecast the official national ceremony live on 2nd December 2023. Alongside this occasion will be broadcast on the official website.

Similarly every year, the United Arab Emirates celebrates its Union Day by organising some grand shows. Back in 2021, by displaying lights, drone fireworks, and complete 3D projections, Hatta, Dubai, a village in the United Arab Emirates flared with lights and joy. Last year, a passenger train from Etihad Rail, chugged all its way inside the show.
