This morning (October 6), the Dubai residents woke up to foggy skies. Due to thick fog, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) has issued yellow and red alerts in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, and Abu Dhabi. Visibility was lowered to less than 1,000 metres, causing possible road hazards.

These types of conditions were expected to last until 9 a.m. today. It is critical to exercise warning while driving at a distance from other vehicles, use your headlights and fog lights, and follow all the instructions and caution from the higher authorities.

The cops in Abu Dhabi posted on X ( Twitter )  that the speed limits were reduced due to the fog in some parts of the Emirates.

For the rest of the day, they were expecting the skies to look sunny and partly cloudy across the UAE.

The temperature was said  to decrease, mainly in the western and coastal areas of the UAE, such as Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Ajman. On average, temperatures were supposed to be in the mid-30s, with maximum temperatures of 30 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperatures lowering to around 20 degrees Celsius. Now, Dubai is experiencing hazy skies with a temperature of 30 degrees Celsius.

The sea level in that place is expected to be relatively calm to moderate in the coming days.

In Dubai, the maximum humidity is most likely to touch 95% with the maximum levels at night and Saturday morning over internal areas like parts of AI Ain. Foggy conditions are also expected to change during those hours.

The winds will be blowing at a speed of 10-25 km/h, and the conditions are expected to be rough and worse in the Arabian Gulf and the alert issued by NCM.

Safety measures to follow while driving in Fog

Switch on your fog lights:

The UAE government requested all modern vehicles to have rear and front fog lights for better visibility during foggy weather. These lights help other vehicles see your vehicles from behind. And requested to turn off the lights after the fog cleared.

You can find the fog light switch on the indicator stalk or headlight knob.

Only drive if it is necessary:

If you get the news about the fog, then inform your boss and save yourself first. Then, keep updated about all the recent fog news through television and radio. Only go out if it is an emergency.

Stop your car at a service station:

If you find fog while driving then slow down the car near any service station and have a cup of tea there. If it takes more than an hour, just be calm and wait for the fog to clear fully.

Avoid changing the lanes often:

Changing lanes often will confuse the motor vehicles and other vehicle riders behind you. Because you can’t get a clear vision when there is fog and that will lead to an accident.

Maintain a safe distance:

Don’t drive your vehicle so close, a sudden strike while driving will create a sudden hit of all the cars behind. 10 feet distance is very important during the fog and it is mandatory to follow in every drive.

Switch the heater ON:

You feel so cold when there is fog, so switching on the heater inside your car will warm your body temperature. Make sure that the heat won’t create a mist on your car windows and make it blur. Don’t forget to follow all the safety measures and drive slowly.
