Dubai Municipality is all set to begin with a whole new eighth edition of the ‘Hatta Honey Festival’. The festival will start on December 27. The honey festival aims to support the entire beekeeping industry across Dubai and the United Arab Emirates. The honey festival will be running until December 31 and will bring together more than 60 Emirati beekeepers from the beekeeping industry who will be featuring their large array of honey products.

 For this time around The Hatta Honey Festival is a part of the inauguration of the grand Hatta Festival. This event will offer and allow visitors to learn more about the huge varieties of honey in detail. The visitors will also get to know about the unique qualities of different honey and the widest and most effective ways to identify them. The event will also showcase the beekeepers from across Dubai sharing their personal experiences and suggesting the most productive steps to follow while improving the quality of the products. Additionally, this event will also bring greater economic and investment opportunities for the residents of Hatta. Furthermore, this occasion will equally support the local holders of small and medium enterprises or SMEs.

Activities

The Hatta Honey Festival will be open for everyone on December 27 at Hatta Hall of Dubai Municipality starting from 10:00 am and will be running until 10:00 pm. All the visitors will be allowed to be a part of a range of activities, including a workshop on some renowned food and beverages to make infusing honey. Soap making process of using honey, and making candles will also be a part of the events lined up, as well as there will be a workshop of art for kids to help them teach the technique of drawing on fabrics including the sessions where the process of packing the hoey will get projected.

In addition, this honey festival will feature many recreative performances, such as competitions in terms of various cartoons and Arab figures from the popular TV Show, ‘Freej’, an eye-catching performance by ‘Liwa’, a traditional Emirati dance group. There will also be some dedicated spaces for fun-filled activities and games for kids.

Unified lab services

The Dubai municipality will increase the number of services and facilities to provide some support to the beekeepers in the Hatta region during this festival, as the Central Laboratory in Dubai will offer instant lab testing sessions of the honey samples for both exhibitors and attendees to get a confirmation on quality and conformance with strangers of approval. Additionally, the Dubai Central Laboratory will also provide the source for sample inspections of the displayed honey products such as measuring the ratio of complete sugar proportion, sucrose, glucose, fructose, and the amount of Hydroxymethylfurfural or HMF.

The Dubai Smart Mobile Laboratory will successfully detect the proportion of yeast and other fungi that are usually found in most honey products and give a quick check to the ready-to-eat meals offered by the food establishment brands that are participating in the Hatta Honey Festival to guarantee their product safety and quality.
