Dubai to Create 30,000 Jobs in the Gaming Industry
Dubai is planning to create approximately 30,000 new job opportunities in the most trending gaming industry by launching a new initiative ‘Dubai Programme For Gaming 2023’.
The new program not only aims for Dubai to be recognised as one of the top 10 global cities in the Gaming Industry but also to grow the digital economy by boosting the contribution of the gaming sector.
The announcement took place while holding a meeting regarding the Higher Committee for Future Technology and Digital Economy chaired by the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Dubai Future Foundation (DFF), and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
“Dubai will persist in aligning with global trends as it shapes and builds its digital economy, harnessing advanced technology and evaluating both current and forthcoming disruptions. This is in accordance with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to ensure that Dubai stands among the most future-ready cities globally,” said the Crown Prince of Dubai.
He further added, “The launch of these new initiatives demonstrates Dubai’s dedication to establishing a nurturing ecosystem for cutting-edge technological tools, solutions, and digital transformation.”

“I chaired a meeting of the Higher Committee for Future Technology and Digital Economy to review the progress of upcoming projects and initiatives. We launched the Dubai Program for Gaming 2023, with great ambitions of positioning Dubai among the top 10 cities in the global gaming industry. Our target for 2033 is to boost the sector’s contribution to GDP by USD 1 billion and create 30,000 new jobs. Furthermore, we approved three new exciting projects as part of the Dubai Metaverse Strategy. Dubai will strive to be the most digitally advanced city in the world.”

The Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033 aims to bring the foremost technology companies across the globe into the race which are mostly known for their digital content and relatable experience.
The crown prince said, “The program will offer support to developers, designers, programmers, as well as entrepreneurs and startups in the creative industries. “Dubai is well-positioned to tap into the vast opportunities within the gaming sector, which is estimated at approximately $200 billion globally. We are strategically positioned to contribute to the advancement of emerging trends like VR (virtual reality) and AI (artificial intelligence), elevating them to provide even more immersive and realistic experiences.”
Talent, Content, & Technology
By providing more support to innovators and entrepreneurs, the major focus of The Dubai Programme for Gaming 2033 is to input more “talent, content, and tech”. To get more productive growth in the industry, the program will initiate education and training programs in the relevant specialisation.
The major goal is to involve participation from the people locally and internationally. There will be many other initiatives to drive more attention from individuals, industrialists, and regulatory officials by launching events on local as well as international platforms.

During the discussion, the Crown Prince, Sheikh Hamdan accepted the launch of the ‘Metaverse Guidelines, ‘Metaverse Pioneers’, and ‘Metaverse Alliance’, which are fundamental ad part of the ‘Dubai Metaverse Strategy’.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, also elaborated on the ‘Create Apps in Dubai’ initiative. The initiative has inspired and trained nearly 500 Emiratis to develop mobile applications by taking support and required help from leading global tech companies and different government entities. The new initiative aims economic contribution worth $1 billion from the gaming industry.
