Dubai Floods: Unforgettable Burning Man Experience Amidst Floods
Mr. Al Malki, chief business development officer at Al Malki Group and a food blogger, experienced at the Burning Man Festival amidst floods. He saw how the Black Rock desert, which is also known as the Nevada desert, turned into a muddy pool. The Burning Man Festival in Dubai is like a celebration where they used to burn giant wooden Effigy. Every year, Burning Man brings tens of thousands of people to the Nevada desert to dance, make art and enjoy being part of a self-sufficient, temporary community of like-minded spirits. Originating in 1986 as a small gathering on a San Francisco beach, it is considered a long-week festival that’s now attended by celebrities and social media influencers, and for that, a regular ticket costs $575.
He already spent more than a week before the main festival. He also decided to leave the place one day before the festival with his two friends to avoid traffic. As a food blogger, he was well prepared while travelling to new places and knew what to carry with him and he was flexible enough to fight against the storm. Every time he used to gain a new experience when we travelled to different places.
The first five days, Sunday – Thursday, the climate looked so good and they thought that it would create better weather during the festival. Then, on Friday the rain started pouring heavily and continuously. By keeping in that they decided to postpone the festival to Monday. When he woke up he placed his feet in the mud which sticks like putting our hand inside the wheat flower mixed with a little extra water. He can’t move his leg because of the mud weight that surrounds his leg. It was so greasy and sticky-like consistency, then he saw that more than a thousand people who came for the festival started complaining about the weather and they feared how they were going to overcome this flood. The trucks, bicycles, and every other vehicle got stuck in the mud. They couldn’t deliver or receive the order that they had in the vehicles. In between that, he saw two rainbows which caught everyone’s view.
Here, everyone should carry their food and they have to save that for later. They were confused about how to survive without any proper food and shelter. Mr. Al Malki was fully prepared with food and staying in the tents. In that place, tragic situations arose but they couldn’t do anything without any proper transport to save the man and then he died, The important thing that we have to notice here is, that he did not die because of the weather and it is reported as something else. The people there were advised to leave not on the same day and asked to delay the plan to avoid heavy traffic like taking one or two days to leave the place and at that time they decided to provide food for them. The way out is an 8-km dirt road to the nearest highway. The sticky mud caused the travel delay and it took more than an hour to reach the highway.
By providing and sharing every food and tent, they become so attached and some people who were carrying three years old and four years old in their hands are also the real fighters because everyone thinks about how they survived. Even after all the disasters, they celebrated the Burning Man Festival on a postponed date.
