The First Aerobatics Flight Launched in UAE
With a flying speed of 400 kmph, Ras Al Khaimah has launched the very first commercial aerobatic flying experience in the United Arab Emirates. The passengers can experience the true G-forces that will pull the face while rilling and climbing, a breathtaking panoramic 360-degree view of the beautiful coastline, mountains, and desserts.
According to Wayne Jack, the director of Flight Operations, and founder and chief executive officer of Action Flight, they as an aviation adventure tourism company have flown a pair of dozen aerobatic commercial flights within a few weeks, right after getting the approval to regulate the flights.
The flights take the passengers to the air at an air altitude of 2000 to 6000 feet after taking off from Ras Al Khaimah International Airport. The flight will zoom past the seaside stands across Cove Rotana, Al Rams, and Marjan Island based on the instructions given by the Air Traffic Control on board.
The complete manoeuvres will include rolls and loops, inverted flights, avalanches, hammer heads, and thrilling vertical climbs that will go up to 3,000 feet.
Wayne Jack also said the passenger flights at Action Flights give a remarkable G-force experience. These commercial flights are aerobatic flights from an intermediate level. The flights will include hammer-head stall turns whereby the pilots fly straight up in a vertical direction as late as gravity takes over control. Right after the pilots will point back down toward the ground and then turn back to flight level.
The climbing rates of the flights are expected to reach up to 400 kmph, along with G-forces of between +4 which means a force of four times the gravity, and -2 where the passengers will feel the sensation of weightlessness.
The aerobatics flight company currently runs two EXTRA 330 aircraft. These are similar types of aircraft that were used during the Red Bull Air race championship. These types of aircraft are often known as ‘the Ferrari of the skies’. These aircrafts are particularly designed for advanced levels of aerobatics competition. The flights also have a few certified limitations of minus and plus 10G.
Jack said that this flying experience would be much more exciting and filled with activities that would let them feel an adrenaline rush throughout, but the company doesn’t want the passengers to feel frozen. The company aims to give all the experience that these flights are capable of such as G-force and a thorough journey in the world of aerobatics.
The pilots are professionals and will communicate throughout the journey with the passengers. The plan is to let the passengers experience and enjoy the flight to their maximum comfort levels.
Prices, Duration of The Flights
An aerobatic flight costs Dh2,399 and lasts about 20 minutes. The complete experience from picking up and dropping at the airport, briefing on the flight procedures, including the flight suit fitting process takes almost three hours to complete.
The adventure begins with the complete briefing given by the pilot before getting inside the flight, After a successful briefing the passengers will be fitted with a flight suit, a helmet, and a headset before they are boarding for the flights.
The flights are operated only during the hours of daylight. The beginning flight takes off at 7 in the morning, while the last flight departs at 5 am.
Handling the Thrilling Experience
The flying experience is specially designed in such a way as to let the passengers enjoy a ride with a thrilling touch without frightening them. If any passenger wants to take a gentle ride or just a ride for the scenic one, there is an option for that too. But if the passengers want to go for a hard out situation, that is something not going to come off, that is because of the higher G-forces, which can be extremely difficult for the passengers to get along with. The company does not entertain such a situation where they can not enjoy it fully.
Most of the offered manoeuvres are not negative G but positive. An easy example of negative G force is inverted flying, and that negative force is most uncomfortable for a passenger who is not habitual to it. Compared to the negative G, positive G is more reasonable and easy to go through.
Meet the pilots
Pete Lindsay and Wayne Jack are the pilots who are flying the aircraft currently. Both of them are former pilots of Emirates Boeing 777. Before starting their career in the airline sector, Pete Lindsay was working as an Air Force jet pilot. Wayne Jack was a civilian commercial pilot and had the experience of flying many different types of aircraft.
Wayne Jack has various experiences from the past such as piloting a ski plane and landing tourists safely on Southern Alps Glaciers in New Zealand. Additionally, the aerobatic pilot has experienced a brand partnership with Red Bull for continuous 11 years.
