Additionally, Mawani was honoured by the international award for its accomplishments in the fields of sustainability, renewable energy, and eco ship, as well as its endeavours to incorporate the application of cutting-edge technology and creative solutions to ensure an environmentally friendly maritime sector.

In addition to the achievement of the above categories in the Summit, Jeddah Islamic Port also delivered its value by securing the 8th position in the international Container Port Performance Index (CPPI). CPPI is developed by the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence. The team was also commended for acknowledging the growth initiatives and investment projects seen at the port, along with the signing of contracts with key partners to launch five logistics provinces and establish more transporting services. Both factors contributed to the country’s achievement in securing the top regional ranking in the Liner Shipping Connectivity Index (UNCTAD) in the year 2022.

The Jeddah Islamic Port is continuously enhancing its operational potential by establishing 12 cutting-edge, eco-friendly cranes that were created following the most recent technologies and multinational standards. Additionally, the port uses “hidden” operating techniques for regulating the shipping containers in both south and north terminals to encourage the use of renewable energy.

In addition to Jeddah Islamic Port winning the title of “Best Port of 2022”, its representative authority, Mawani, also secured the “Digital Transformation Award” title for its quality modifications undertaken in the year 2022, as well as its related initiatives, such as the “Smart Port Initiative” to streamline operational procedures in Saudi ports with the use of 5th Generation or 5G technologies and Artificial Intelligence agendas. The team was also acknowledged for the execution of cutting-edge digital programs that improve technological connectivity and for the development of the management of the port community to expand the spectrum of services offered in Saudi ports from 46 existing services to 150 services with the implementation of the latest, upcoming technologies in line with international standards.
