The most famous and widely known fireworks on New Year’s Eve are scheduled to take place across 32 different locations in Dubai. The authorities in Dubai have announced a security plan for the celebration of a smooth and uninterrupted New Year.

According to the new security plan shared by the Event Security Committee in Dubai, Northai, the city has been divided into a total of four sectors, such as Central, North, West, and the Maritime sector. Managing New Year’s Eve according to the mentioned sectors will be better and more effective.

The event Security Committee in Dubai is comprised of a total number of 55 private and government entities and made an announcement saying the New Year’s fireworks will take place in 32 venues across Dubai and Hatta, including Burj Khalifa, Bluewaters (JBR), The Beach, Kite Beach, and Palm Jumeirah, Hatta, Global Village, Al Seef, Festival City and many more.

Screens for Displaying Fireworks

It is also revealed that in coordination with the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs, there will be several displaying screens will be placed for the workers so that they don’t miss out and get a chance to enjoy the New Year celebrations.

The viewing locations will be equipped with six display screens including food services. These viewing areas will let the viewers experience the grand fireworks and take part in this auspicious occasion with maximum safety while helping to avoid overcrowding within the city.

The Assistant Commandant of Operations Affairs at Dubai Police and chairman of the Events Security Committee, Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi confirmed that all 55 entities already have started working with full cooperation to provide maximum safety and security for all the visitors going to enjoy the celebrations. There is a consolidated security plan that has been assigned to every entity to fulfill based on their knowledge and secure the fireworks sectors and other tourist areas such as shopping malls. This security plan equally will manage the traffic conditions on New Year’s Eve.

Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi said, “A unified security plan has been devised, with each entity contributing according to their expertise, to secure tourist areas, and shopping malls and manage traffic during the New Year’s Eve celebrations.”

He also urged the residents and visitors to maintain cooperation with the police, follow the traffic instructions to prevent accidents, and also advised all to reach out on 999 to Dubai Police in case face any emergencies. He further added that several supply tents located in downtown Dubai will offer free services to find lost and found items, logistical support, first aid, complete assistance for lost children, guidance for visitors, and a lot more.

Nearly 12,000 personnel to be deployed

Based on the shared report by Dubai Police, the major roads such as the roads around Downtown Dubai, and other popular locations will start shutting down from 4:00 pm onwards, whereas from 9:00 pm onwards Sheikh Zayed Road will be closed completely. The Roads and Transport Authority of Dubai (RTA) has announced that Dubai Metro will be fully functioning for 40 hours during New Year’s Eve.

A total number of 11,972 personnel have been assigned across Hatta and Dubai, including over 5,574 police officers, 1,525 patrols, ambulance vehicles, and civil defence. The deployed service will help to ensure secure and smooth management across the city during the celebration of New Year’s Eve 2024.

Public Transport Services

The Executive Director of Traffic and Roads at the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Chairman of the Traffic Management and Transport Systems Committee, Abdullah Al Ali, confirmed that the extra bus services have been assigned for hassle-free travel solutions as the number of visitors is seem to be increased this year. A total number of 230 subtle buses, of which 20 are double-deckers have been included, and will be serving at the taxi stands, and mt station locations.

The buses will depart from Sheikh Zayed Road and move towards Abu Dhabi will provide services for the visitors at Burj Khalifa Metro Station and run till Onpassive Metro Station. Those buses departing from the service road area of Sheikh Zayed Road will drop people off at the taxi stand located at Al Wasl Club and Al Jafiliya to Deira City Centre. The buses starting the journey from Financial Centre Road will run through Al Khail Road, Al Wasl Club, and Al Jafiliya Parking. The additional bus routes will run from  Burj Khalifa Street and will station at Deira City Centre Metro Station. The buses will start their service starting from in front of the  Business Bay Metro Station, located on Sheikh Zayed Road, and will also drop off the passengers at Deira City Centre Metro Station.

The additional taxi sands will be set up at Al Wasl Club to provide taxi service for the visitors who stay far from the venues selected for New Year’s Eve celebrations.


Directional Signage and Traffic Management

Abdullah Al Ali further said that the facility of directional signs will be provided across the Burj Khalifa area to ensure smooth movement for the pedestrians heading towards the venue of the event, and also the metro stations. From the centre of traffic control at Financial Centre Road and Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard the traffic signal and traffic movements will be captured thoroughly to ensure a smooth flow of traffic during the peak hours. They will be coordinating with Emaar’s room of operations.

The smart traffic signals will be included to alert all the road users due to necessary closures. This smart signal will equally direct the visitors to move towards the alternative routes and guide them to park individual vehicles. The foot bridges and inside elevators located at the Dubai Water Canal will be closed during the time of celebration to ensure the topmost basic and general safety of the public.

Additional Parking

As per the confirmation given by Abdullah Al Ali, there will be over 900 additional parking spaces outside the area of the event will be made available for public use. Public transport buses will start operating from these dedicated parking areas, including 500 different slots at Al Wasl Club and 400 slots at Al Jafiliya, General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs. The bus services will begin at 3:00 pm.

Civic Body Plan

Dubai Municipality will also assign 2700 executives and field service teams. Dubai Municipality will deploy 2,700 executive and field teams that will spread out across all the sites selected for the celebrations in the emirate.

Expert Major General Ali Hassan Al Mutawa, Assistant Director-General for Fire and Rescue Affairs at the General Directorate of Civil Defence in Dubai said, “Dubai Civil Defence will deploy more than 947 firefighters, including officers and non-commissioned officers, across celebration sites. They represent the elite units and specialised teams with high professional competence. They will be supported by more than 106 modern multi-purpose vehicles and logistical support teams, ready to respond to emergencies around all 24 civil defence centres in Dubai.” 

The dedicated teams of Dubai Municipality will pay maximum attention to Downtown Dubai, Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, Dubai Mall, Dubai Hills, Burj Khalifa, Festival City, Burj Al Arab, City Walk, Souk Al Bahar, Palm Jumeirah, Burj Al Khor, and Jumeirah Beach Residences or JBR. The teams will equally look after the celebration taking place at Dubai Frame,  Global Village, Zabeel Park, and the popular public beaches such as Jumeirah 1, 2, and 3,  Al Sufouh, Jebel Ali, Umm Suqeim 1 and 2, Al Mamzar Beach, Corniche, and Al Shurooq, in addition to the outwards roads that will be leading to the places where the visitors will gather for celebration s and many our events.

There will be 242 supervisors and monitors deployed by the Civic body, and also 2281 sanitation workers to balance aesthetic appeal and maintain proper hygiene and cleanliness around the selected sites and crowded areas to celebrate New Year’s Eve. The assigned team will manage to clean and remove the waste and ensure the streets remain pristine and weigh. Additionally, they will install over 300 garbage storage in the most crowded places. 

There are over 630 private sector workers for sanitation have been contracted by Dubai Municipality for specific places like residential and industrial areas, along with desert places as well. They will get support from over 500 external volunteers from the public.

The health and safety teams of Dubai Municipality including 63 inspectors and supervisors will maintain field visits to ensure acquiescence with safety and health standards at entrances, pathways, escalators, elevators, floors, water systems, air quality, and other logistic arrangements such as extensions of the electricity system, and safe storage along with other effective plans for successful crown management.

The Food safety teams will include 27 inspectors who will be carrying out checks at, hotels, restaurants, shopping centres, and other food stalls located at the sites of New Year’s Celebrations.

Dubai Municipality will also allocate a team of 75 inspectors and monitors to manage activities at public parks, cross-check the recreational facilities, and look after the sites that are going to facilitate fireworks during the New Year’s Celebration.

The will be a dedicated team of 8 inspectors and monitors who will run direct coordination with Dubai Police, and secure the beaches located in the city. The services of the security and lifeguard will be strong and effectively ensured by the authorities, specifically on the night beaches. The team will provide the maximum level of security to ensure the safety of the residents and visitors.

The Civil Defence in Dubai will assign firefighters more than 947 across all locations to celebrations of the New Year.

178 Ambulances to be Included

For a sustainable ambulance service, Dubai Corporation will deploy 178 ambulances, four boats, 35 supervisors, and over 556 paramedics on standby for over 46 events happening across Dubai on New Year’s Eve.

The ambulance vehicles of Dubai will be parked in all the vital locations. There will be over seven ambulance vehicles and 16 paramedics in Dubai Mall, 12 paramedics, and six ambulances each at Burj Al Arab, Palm Jumeirah,  Jumeirah Beach Residences, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard or Burj Khalifa, and Bluewaters.

The Dubai Corporation is aiming for the topmost security and has also deployed 18 ambulance vehicles, a room for operation, 18 support tents to facilitate during extreme emergency situations, five instant responder vehicles, six electric bikes, two ambulance buses, and a unit to provide field support as a complete ambulance service.

In addition, there will be 34 additional ambulance points have been marked across many areas such as  Jebel Ali, Bur Dubai, some rural areas, and Deira. As well as there will be five ambulances to be in service at the Hatta Festival, including a team of 12 paramedics and a supportive field support unit available from December 15 to December 31.

DUBAI – Dubai’s Events Security Committee (ESC) has publically announced this comprehensive plan on December 28 to run a secure celebration of New Year’s Eve festivities across Dubai. The authorities in Dubai have assigned the all needed security so that the residents can enjoy a seamless experience during the peak moment of New Year’s Eve, avoid all unnecessary disturbances, and get all required support during the needed time without any hassle.
